I like to hand out awards for stellar play at the end of each fantasy football season. There were some great performers at the tight end position but one player in particular outshined them all. The best fantasy football tight end of the 2011 season is Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys. Witten had a bounce back season after a disappointing 2010. His performance of the field was surprising this season for a number of reasons.
Witten was expected to be the fourth option on the team after the Cowboys drafted Dez Bryant in the offseason. He also overcame the loss of his starting quarterback during the season. Tony Romo went out with a separated shoulder halfway through the season. Despite all of this Witten put up a Pro Bowl season and became Dallas’ most potent offensive weapon. He bonded with Jon Kitna and helped lead the Cowboys to a respectable five and three finish.
